About this piece
Poppies crowd the lower two-thirds of the sheet in coral, salmon and deep rose, their heads painted as soft blooms of pigment rather than described petal by petal. Above them the sky thins to a wash of turquoise, and a few seed pods stand on wiry stems, drawn in with a fine dark line. Doljenkova lets the flowers overlap and blur into one another so the field reads as movement rather than inventory. Loose, warm, and genuinely joyful.
